Since 2011, the team working on Unitag's innovative mobile marketing platform and services has kept on growing. Discover the story, the people, the vision and the core values behind the startup success.
INP-ENSEEIHT and Toulouse Business School students, the 5 future founders of Unitag meet during their studies in Toulouse, more specifically through their activities in several student associations. The team is elected head of the Student Office of their engineering graduate school and becomes in charge of the campus life and the organization of different activities targeting students.
With 2009 being a turning point in the use of smartphones, Unitag's future founders notice the rapidly growing need of communication through this new media and thus start developing, for internal use at first, some smart tools targeting mobile users (mobile websites, QR Codes).
Following the success of its first service, the (now famous) custom QR Code generator, the team creates Unitag in April 2011 with one goal in mind: to provide both simple and innovative tools for the purpose of mobile technologies.
What started as a hobby turns into a full-time entrepreneurial adventure for Alexis and Benoît, with the first customers already using the Unitag platform during the company's first summer. The Premium offer launch in September marks the start of an increase in Unitag's commercial and technical activities.
Launching new services, integrating business incubator programs, hiring first employees, acquiring the first 300 customers, etc. With lots of achievements, the year 2012 validates the ability of the project founders to expand and promote Unitag's business. Both Live and Business offers are launched and turnover is increasing fast.
At the same time, the successful international expansion brings new major growth opportunities to the young startup.
The fundraising in August 2013 ends the successful 2-year development of the startup on the mobile marketing market on a high note. With now more than 1,000 customers, 2013 caps off a landmark year for Unitag, which confirms its leadership position thanks to the increasing visibility of the platform. The team keeps growing and moves into new headquarters in the city center of Toulouse.
Simon, Gautier and Romain, three of the original co-founders, are now officially part of the team. New processes are implemented and major changes are initiated in the entire organization in order to build a solid company structure to support Unitag's ambitious plans for the future.
Unitag looks towards the international market to continue its expansion in the today's ever growing and rapidly changing mobile marketing market. Still, by continuously providing the latest technologies through our platform, innovation remains the growth engine of the company - for years to come.

Since its creation, Unitag has won many entrepreneurial competitions for its innovative business and solutions, such as NETVA, a unique program of preparation and exposure to high-tech U.S. markets, the famous Midinvest and the more local "Petit Poucet" competitions.
In 2013, the startup completed a fundraising from regional business angels. Unitag investors are members of Capitol Angels, a French business angels club, and DP Invest, the seed funding program of the ICT cluster Digital Place.
